User Experience improvement,  visual mockups, UI Animations and UI implementation in Unreal

Heavy Iron studio was contracting with Epic game studio to work on Fortnite Creative together.
I am super excited and grateful to have the opportunity working with the team on this well known AAA game.

Color Picker

I was told to improve the old color picker menu in Fortnite to make it more user friendly.

A lot of device has the option to allow the creator choosing the color he wants to use, however, it was all listed by names. You won't know how it looked like until you saved it and exit out the settings.

Since we pushed the change to Creative in season 17, we've got a lot of positive feedback from the creators. It's so much easier for them to pick and choose the color swatches they like to use.
This improvement is a huge winning for both side. And we have more upcoming update very soon.

Creative HUD revamp

There are many UI overlapping issues Creative.
It's often feeling overwhelmed by so many informations going around in the HUB when you simply trying to enter a game. Here's a quick example.

After many rounds discussion with Epic, here are some common solutions we agreed on.

  • Simplified the information displaying on the screen.

  • Have a dedicate detail screen to display all the details about the game you are going to enter.

  • Moved the "support the creator" function to the place before you exiting the game.

Here's the final product's user flow.

Pop Up Dialogue Device

We wanted to design a new device that's able to display some messages on the popup.
There should be one default OK button or two YES/NO buttons.

I provided four frame styles for the popup box.

We also talked about the possibility to place the popup box in different positions, but still keep the style.

Here are the visual mockups I made for each style that we can do in v.2.

End of Movement animation concepts

Here are some ideas for how we can show the end game movements.
I was working in Figma and Protopie.

RichText editor

I was the UI artist implementing the assets and layouts with the developer closely for this feature.
